Andrew Raymond Drennan is performing his new novel, Cancer Party, at Weegie Wednesday at the Universal Bar, Sauchiehall Lane tonight from 7:30pm
Weegie Wednesday is back this month with a slightly new format, dedicating a short time slot during the evening to showcase what is happening - or about to happen - in Glasgow's (and Scotland's) literary scene.
Below is from the flyer!
First up in the spotlight is Paisley-based writer Andrew Raymond Drennan whose debut novel 'Cancer Party' is due out this month courtesy of Cargo Publishing, a new Glasgow-based publisher that's also behind an arts performance night club for writers, musicians, artists and DJs. Preview extracts from Andrew's book have already ruffled feathers among religious groups - so why not come and see what the fuss is about. We are also pleased to have on board, Colin Begg, joint editor of the soon-to-be-launched fiction and poetry magazine Gutter. Colin will give us the low-down on Gutter and why he thinks there is a need for an energetic, ambitious, high quality, journal dedicated exclusively to the best in new Scottish creative writing (for more info on Gutter and its submissions policy, please visit www.guttermag.co.uk).
All this will take place amid the usual convivial chat on comfy sofas
Upstairs at The Universal Bar, Sauchiehall Lane (directly behind Waterstones in Sauchiehall Street), Glasgow
